Following graduation, Zach went to Auburn University for his first three years of college, later transferring to Indiana University for his senior year in 2018-19 where he earned a B.S. degree in Exercise Science. He has been a mainstay of American relays since 2017, when he won his first world title as a prelims swimmer for the 4×100 free relay. Since then, Zach has picked up four more World Championships medals — including two gold — and won five golds at the 2019 World University Games. During the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Zach won a gold medal as the anchor of the men’s 4×100 Freestyle Relay, recording the best split time for his team of 46.69 seconds. He followed that up with a second gold medal, anchoring the 4x100 Medley Relay, leading his team to setting a new world record with a time of 3:26.78, a record that had not been broken since 2009. Zach resides in Bloomington, Indiana and continues to swim competitively. More accolades are certain to come his way. In his downtime, he enjoys hiking and playing video games. |
