Edward Fall was a 1945 graduate of Wayne High School. He participated in Cross County, Basketball and Track. As part of the 1944 Butler County league championship Basketball team, Edward was a leading scorer. Although Wayne High School was the smallest school in Butler County, having an enrollment of only 24 boys, the team proved to be the surprise league entrant, winning nine games in a row, led by Edward, to clinch the title.
Edward also enjoyed running and would sometimes run to school from his family's farm on Stubbs Road after helping with the morning chores. As a member of the track team, he ran the Mile as well as the 880 Yard Run. He placed third in the Mile Run in the 1944 State Track meet and bettered his accomplishment his senior year by placing second. In Cross Country, Edward claimed the distinction of being the first Class B runner to cross the finish line at the 1943 State Meet. Although he placed 6th overall, he claimed the honor of being the fastest Class B runner for the year. During his senior year, he was named to the All-Ohio Track Team based on his consistency of performance. A life-long resident of the Edgewood School District, Edward's entire family has been or is currently being educated through the Edgewood school system. Many have carried on his legacy as fine athletes. |
