A 1961 graduate of Seven Mile High School, Dave played Varsity Football and Basketball. Following graduation, he attended Miami University before deciding to return home to his family's dairy farm in Wayne Township, where he felt the need to help his parents.
Dave began his career with the Edgewood School District as a bus driver in the early 70's. In 1982, he began serving inside Edgewood High School where he monitored study hall periods and founded his love for coaching student athletes, which, over the years, included Girls Basketball, Girls Volleyball, Football, Boys Tennis and Golf. As a coach, Dave earned many awards and recognitions, including District Assistant Coach of the Year and reaching his 20th year of coaching Girls Basketball, where he compiled a 196 win-96 loss record. He served as Edgewood's Athletic Director for a period of eight (8) years and received the Mid Miami Valley Athletic Director award in 2001. As a coach and athletic director, Dave was an influence in so many of the young adult lives he came in contact with and truly exemplified what an adult in authority should be. In all, Dave served the Edgewood School District for 38 years. Dave and his wife Janet currently live in Monroe. |
