Warren Elam is a 1961 graduate of Seven Mile High School. He participated in football, basketball, track & field, and cross country, earning ten varsity letters in three years, one in every sport he participated in during his sophomore, junior and senior years. He was the Butler County champion in cross country during his senior year and was named 1st team all league his senior year.
He excelled in track & field and qualified to state in eight events. He was a three-time district champion in long jump and the 440 yard dash. His sophomore year, his 4 X 200 team won state champion and his junior year, his 4 X 400 team earned state runner up. He set the school record in the 220 yard dash and set meet records in the 440 yard dash and long jump at the Butler County meet and Southwestern Ohio Conference League meet. Warren coached 56 seasons of track and cross country at Madison High School and was inducted into the Madison Athletic Hall of Fame in 2010. Employed by Armco/AK Steel as a Millwright since 1962, he retired in 1996. He was also employed by the Warren County Career Center for seven years. He is currently a self-employed landscaper. He and his wife Ruby have three children and three grandchildren. They reside in Middletown. |
