A 1997 Edgewood graduate, Billy Back participated in Baseball and Football.
In Baseball, he was a four-year Varsity starter. His senior year, he earned 1st team All MML, All County, and All Southwest conference and was named to the Miami Valley All Star game. He set and held records for the highest season average at .523 and most stolen bases (21) for a period of 13 years with those records being broken in 2010. He also held the record for highest on base percentage of .575 until 2002. In Football, Billy was a two-year Varsity starter and during his senior year season, was named to 1st team All MML (offense and defense), 1st team All County (defense), 1st team All Dayton Metro area (offense, 2nd team defense), 1st team All Cincinnati Enquirer (offense and defense), 1st team All Southwest Ohio (defense), and 1st team All Ohio (defense). He broke and held four school records for a period of 13 years, three offensive records and one defensive record including receiving yards (808), receptions (36), receiving touchdowns (10), and takeaways on defense (13). Following high school, Billy attended Indiana Tech for baseball, transferred to Wilmington College and ended up at Miami University Hamilton where he played baseball and was ultimately inducted into the Miami University Hamilton Hall of Fame in 2017 for Baseball. After earning his associates degree in Humanities, Billy played two seasons of professional baseball in the Frontier League (Single A) with the Florence Freedom. He then pursued a career in football, playing six seasons of professional arena football with the Dayton Warbirds, Cincinnati Marshals, Miami Valley Silverbacks, Mahoning Valley Thunder, and Bloomington Extreme. He then turned his sites on coaching and has had a successful professional coaching record, earning multiple championships. He is currently head coach/president of football operations of the Frisco Fighters, members of the Indoor Football League, located in Frisco Texas. He and his wife, Stacie, reside in Greensboro, North Carolina and have a daughter, London, and two sons, Larkin and Lennox. Billy enjoys anything sports, watching good movies with his wife, and just letting his kids be who they are while rooting for them in whatever they do. |
