Tim Sloneker was a graduate of the Class of 1974 and competed in Football, Basketball, and Track & Field earning Varsity letters in all. However, it was Track & Field where Tim's passion emerged.
As a Junior, Tim was named MVP of the Track & Field team. He set the record for the 100-yard dash with a time of 10.0 seconds. He was also a member of the record-setting 4 X 200 relay team as a freshman. Tim was known to be a fun-loving guy and often reminded his family and friends that they were in the presence of "the fastest man in the MML." He earned a place in the State High School Championships for Track & Field during the 1972, 1973, 1974 seasons. He was named Edgewood's Top Athlete for Spring Sports during his senior year. Following his graduation from Edgewood, Tim attended Indiana State University and University of Findlay. He remained a life-long fan of the Edgewood High School Cougars. Tim passed away in 2012 following a hard-fought illness with cancer. He is survived by his wife Sue and their two children. He retired from Packaging Corporation of American in 2012. |
